About Beautiful Minds

We bring solace, healing, and lasting results to individuals and families.

New Jersey’s Premier Mental Health Care

Beautiful Minds was established in 2016 with a powerful mission: to provide accessible, affordable, and evidence-based mental health care for individuals and families. What began as a vision has grown into a multi-state agency, now proudly serving communities across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

We offer a comprehensive range of treatment services for adults, adolescents, and children of all ages and genders. Our dedication to client care is reflected in our warm, supportive environment, collaborative approach, and commitment to delivering flexible, personalized treatment tailored to each individual’s needs.

Our Approach

Our approach to mental health care emphasizes four key principles:

    • Convenience and accessibility for clients
    • Coordination of care among all providers
    • Evidence-based solutions
    • Individual focused

Convenience and Accessibility

Making mental and behavioral health care more accessible to our community drives us in our mission. At our three convenient outpatient clinic locations in Sicklerville, Linwood, and Cape May, we provide outpatient care for depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, relationship issues, and many other mental and behavioral health challenges. But we knew that wasn’t enough. That’s why we also provide in-home and telehealth services to expand our ability to deliver services. We believe that every individual and family should have access to services at the location and level that best suits their needs.

Coordination of Care

At Beautiful Minds, we believe that the best outcomes happen when care is connected. Our collaborative and integrative approach allows us to work closely with the other providers involved in your care—whether medical, educational, or therapeutic—to ensure a comprehensive understanding of your unique needs.

By fostering open communication and coordinated efforts, we’re able to deliver more informed, cohesive, and effective treatment. This not only enhances the care you receive from us, but also supports and strengthens the entire network of professionals working with you—creating a true circle of care that promotes your long-term healing and wellness.

Evidence-based Solutions

At Beautiful Minds, we understand that therapy and mental health care impact the very core of who we are—our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and how we experience the world around us. That’s why we take an individualized, neurologically informed approach to healing, recognizing that every person’s mind is unique and requires personalized care.

The brain is a highly complex and powerful organ, and effective treatment must reflect that complexity. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, carefully selected to meet each client’s specific needs. We offer integrated treatment that combines psychotherapy with a deep understanding of brain functioning, ensuring a holistic path to wellness.

At Beautiful Minds, our clients receive more than just support—they receive care that’s proven, personalized, and rooted in neuroscience, so they can move forward with confidence and lasting results.

Individual Focused

We see every client as an individual, distinct and different from the challenges they may be facing. Because each of us is unique, we heal in different ways. At Beautiful Minds, we create personalized care plans tailored to each person’s individual needs. Our providers work closely with each client to create a care pathway that reflects their specific circumstances and goals. Your journey is unique to you alone and your care plan should be the same.

Derek Smith, MSW
I've always had a deep passion for helping people from a very young age. My mother worked as I was growing up in a helping profession and I believe a bit of that also has to do with where I am today in my field of work. I currently work with many individuals and families using different techniques and strategies to make a difference in each family I serve.
It's always been my job to ensure that each family and individual we serve receives the best services possible and continues to flourish in today's world!

With over 20 years experience working with children and families, I like to take a strength based approach to helping children and families identify the root causes of behavior to help find healthy and positive ways to express emotions. Utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy approaches and positive psychology techniques, I assist children and families find creative ways to cope with and communicate their feelings. I have extensive experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, anxiety, school refusal and depression.

I believe that anyone can cope with the hardest situations when given the appropriate tools. I also know that motivation for change and overall wellness occurs when a person is able to cope with life stressors through identifying their functional strengths and using them on a daily basis to bring joy into their lives.

I am a firm believer in a strengths-based approach to therapy. What experiences an individual has lived through and overcome form the basis of their resiliency and ability to succeed. With the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I believe that an individual's strengths and experiences will pave a path to deeper understanding and personal growth. It is never too early or too late in life to try therapy. My goal is always your success and for you to leave therapy feeling better than when you started.
